The instrument

A classic bass, captured in detail.

We started with an original 1981 USA-made solid-body bass in cherry sunburst, chosen for its warm low end, punch and natural sustain. We captured the pickup signal through a carefully chosen DI chain and added two microphones around the instrument, preserving both its focused direct sound and the subtle character of the bass itself.

We turned those recordings into an instrument that moves naturally between played patterns and your own basslines. Fingerstyle, pick, slap and a wide range of articulations give you the feel of a real session player, while the melody instrument lets you step beyond the patterns and shape your own parts.
